Bobbin Bakes - Sweet Lovin'

Saturday, 30 January 2016

The end of january is upon us and with all our resolutions made so long ago a few of us are beginning to fall off the wagon (me included!). So in a bid to get back on to healthy eating I spent my day creating these delicious healthy Chocolate Brownies.
They are taken from the blogger Deliciously Ella so I don't take any credit for the recipe but they are so yummy and easy to make! They are becoming my guilt free biscuit tin staple!

– 2 medium to large sweet potatoes (600g)
– 2/3 of a cup of ground almonds (80g)
– 1/2 a cup of buckwheat or brown rice flour (100g)
– 14 medjool dates
– 4 tablespoons of raw cacao
– 3 tablespoons of pure maple syrup
– a pinch of salt

Start by pre-heating the oven to 180C, then peel the sweet potatoes. Cut them into chunks and place into a steamer for about  twenty minutes, until they become really soft.
Once they are perfectly soft and beginning to fall apart remove them and add them to a food processor with the pitted dates – this will form one of the sweetest, creamiest, most delicious mixes ever!
Put the remaining ingredients into a bowl, before mixing in the sweet potato date combination. Stir well.
Place into a lined baking dish and cook for about twenty minutes, until you can pierce the brownie cake with a fork bringing it out dry. Remove the tray and allow it to cool for about ten minutes – this is really important as it needs this time to stick together! Remove the brownies from the tray, leaving it another few minutes before cutting them into squares – then dig in and enjoy!

January's Best Beauty Basics

Monday, 18 January 2016

So we are in the midst of January and today is officially supposed to be the most depressing day of the year ( Blue Monday). But fear not I have a lovely post to boost todays moral all about the beauty basics that are getting me through January!

The official party season maybe over but I am carry on keeping it glamorous with these gorgeous lashes from Perfect10 they have a range of shapes and sizes. All of which are super easy to apply ( I am so kack handed and even I can do them!). The glue is amazing and they stay on all day and night as well as easily removed with warm water and soap. They are available from SAVERS stores or I have seen them on . As well as being totally gorgeous they range in price between £2.99 - £4.01 a bargain !

The hair goddess has arrived! In the form of L'Oreal Hair Expertise shampoo and conditioner. Having used a high end brand for years and swearing by it despite having to wash my hair everyday (due to the fact I thought it was because I touched it too much) I could never really see me changing. However, my usual brand was out of stock so I grabbed these and I have never looked back. They leave my hair silky soft literally as if I have left a salon every day. Not only does my hair shine better, look thicker and is healthier it stays clean for up to 3 days which is amazing! This shampoo and conditioner easily beats the higher end brands and is my absolute must buy of the month.

So lets face it I can be a super lazy beauty lover, I am always looking for a quick fix or a two in one. Well the COLAB dry shampoo extreme lift ticks both those boxes. Not only does it save my hair when I am running late with no time to wash it. It gives it volume Adeles beehive couldn't match. All with smelling like fresh flowers ! You really can't go wrong! Only thing to do now is to find the handbag sized one so I have one for on the go.

The cold weather is here in the UK and all the matte lippy wearing over christmas mixed in with the cold weather has quite frankly battered by lips. They have more cracks and craters than mars and I really need to give them some TLC. So Carmex is currently my best friend restoring them to there luscious selves as well as providing SPF15 protection! I think I've used Carmex since I was 13 years old and it's been a winter staple ever since!

Sun-day Strolling

A fresh frosty morning with the sun blaring down calls for one thing . . . a beautiful dog walk around the Norfolk countryside. You really can't beat those fresh mornings and this morning I got up and basked in the winter sunshine on a long walk.

Heres what I wore:

Jumper - Jigsaw
Jeans - Gap

Byfords of Holt

Tuesday, 5 January 2016

So at the end of last year I visited the amazing Byfords in Holt, Norfolk. This is one of my favourite bakery/cafe in Norfolk so if you are in the area it's a must visit spot!
Set in the picturesque town of Holt with it's quaint little shops this bustling cafe sits in the centre. The food is simple, homely and fresh the perfect stop off from wondering around the shops or a pit stop on the way to the beach!
