The Autumn Lust List

Saturday, 15 October 2016

Now that the weather has turned and the nights are drawing in I have put together a little autumn lust list of things I'm loving and lusting for!

1. Jo Malone My Story
There is nothing more cosy than snuggling under a thick cable knit throw with a cuppa and a good read in front of a roaring fire. And I am desperate to get my hands on Jo Malone's biography. I have always loved the 'Jo Malone' products but unaware to me till I heard a fantastic interview with her on Radio 4 , Jo doesn't actually own the brand or have any creative input since she sold the brand to Estee Lauder. When she left Jo Malone she had to sign documents saying that she wouldn't start another scent/beauty company for 5 years and as a creative this crippled Jo, so I feel that this book will be an amazing read following her journey from her kitchen sink to the brand she created and creating her own brand 'Jo Loves' Not to mention her battle with cancer and raising a family along the way.
This will be on my Christmas list unless I cave in before hand and buy it!

2. Kate Spade Gold Spot Travel Mug
Hot drinks are the best kind of warmers and with all the high street coffee chains bringing out those special winter flavours there is not a better time to invest in a pretty travel mug. This beauty is from Kate Spade and looks as good as those spiced pumpkin lattes taste!

3. Jumper Dresses
So we all might eat a few more biscuits come winter time so the jumper dresses are not only the best invention for staying warm, they also have room for over indulging in family buffets for our ever growing bellies this time of year. I love all the styles from the cable knitted trends to this gorgeous comfy sports luxe feel. Team them with a pair of over the knee boots and a fur gilet and your away.

4. Rimmel 60 Second Nail Varnish in Sand and Deliver
I love nude nails they go with everything especially big camel coats and checked scarves! So I picked up this gorgeous shade in Boots recently and could not believe how quick it drys it really does what it says on the tin. Great for those quick back from work and out on date night turn arounds! I also find it doesn't stick to your nails so you can take it off and reapply all under 10 mins! Amazing!

5. Teddy Robe from TOPSHOP
Oh Em Gee this is so cute and lets face it would be great for those insta selfies (ears and all). Anyone who knows me knows I am one of those people who are always always....always cold. So when I'm at home despite the heating blaring out I always wrap myself up in my dressing gown as soon as I get in the door. I swear the postman thinks I am never dressed!
You can't go wrong with this thick, gorgeous robe from TOPSHOP!

6. Saint Laurent Monogram Kate Suade Shoulder Bag
Ok, so this is a total fantasy, unrealistic piece but I bloody love it and if I won the lottery tomorrow it would be straight in  my basket. It's classic, the perfect size and timeless. If you are going to invest in a designer bag, one which is timeless such as the Saint Laurent piece is the way to go. It's a great day to night bag which would go with anything and everything.Just Look how beautiful it is! For now I will keep dreaming ....

New Hair Don't Care

Tuesday, 4 October 2016

With the end of Summer and the golden leaves falling on the ground this Autumn I decided to take inspiration of copper tones and golden glimpses and but them into my do!
I'm naturally a very dark brown so to achieve this colour took two long hair appointments and few pounds too! My inspiration was a natural feel balayage style which would take me through wintre and into next summer! I love the mixture of tones that where achieved through adding different strengths of bleach. My hairdresser also used a root colour to blend the golden coppery blondes to make for a natural transition! I still want to go blonder but I am already loving the results.

If you love my hair then why not visit in Norwich to book an appointment. Hey it's also where the lovely blogger Helen Anderson goes too... and anyone who is anyone knows she's queen of the doo!

Summer is when skin glows changed to tan and well looks freckle-ilious! So keeping up with your base products can be one big expense as your tones change! However, I have put together the ultimate base products to see you through the summer and even give you that autumnal glow.. like the golden leaves falling (too far... but you get the gist!).

1. Sleek Make-Up Barekissed Illuminator

This is going to be a holy grail product for me, I just know it! I love looking glory and dewy all year round, admittedly in the summer more so as it looks so healthy against a tan! But this product is like liquid gold! It's so pigmented and a little goes a long way, perfect for cheekbones, collar bones or even your legs on holiday! This really does rival the Mac Strobe cream and is the most amazing high street dupe!

2. The Sleek Make-Up Cream Contour Kit in Medium

This kit is fabulous, it has six shades that gradually get darker an darker and will chisel those cheeks come rain or shine. I have pretty fair skin so I use the lighter shades when I am un-tanned and get into the darker tones when I get a glow. I never really get to the end shades as they are pretty dark, but I do use these on nights out to add more definition. I love this product and its a great high street dupe for the more pricer high end versions and to be honest I think it's better!

3. L'Oreal J Lo Nude

This is my trusty go to lipstick! It is so moisturising , easy to wear and go with anything and everything! It's a pinky nude with browny undertones that glisten in the light making lips look full and plumped up! I love that this lipstick has a sheen but is not too much, overpowering or sticky that your hair gets stuck all the time! It is the perfect formulation! Love it Love it Love it!

4. Insta Flawless by Rimmel London

New on the scene this is a cross between a primer and a BB cream. Providing enough coverage for a light look or you can use it has a primer to build up a fuller face. It's tinted and comes in either Light or Medium/Dark. I went for the Light option which is super dewy but not shiny and blends to the skin so well! Providing you with a natural base or something to build! An All Rounder!!

5. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation

This is the best summer foundation! Lightweight providing a dewy suns kissed look to any make-up the perfect base to build your contour in! It's super bendable and buffs into the skin like a dream! I find that the colour Deauville does me throughout the seasons. I re buy this so regularly I love it!

Little tip - Don't order this straight up online go to your nearest Space NK and get your colour matched! They will give you a little pot to try out and this really is the best way to test a foundation before investing in it! Also keep the tops of your bottles they are an extra £3.00 so I find saving them saves me lots of £££ in the long run!

Friendships are For Life with Huggle

Tuesday, 2 August 2016

huggle,huggleapp,friendship,blog,beauty,skincare,lifestyle blog,beauty blog,beauty,mua

Friendship is one of the most important things in our lives and  Huggle  has asked me to make a list/write about what I think makes a good friend. Huggle is a social app which helps you to discover and connect with people who go to the places you go. It’s a wonderful app for making friends and meeting like-minded people. You can download it here."

1. Communication

I don't think there a day, hour, minute or second where my group messages are not pinging off ! With either the latest dating disaster, newest lipstick or a cheeky topless picture of Channing Tatum to brighten our day, best friends really do share everything!
Being a good friend is not just about sharing all of those juicy secrets but about being a good listener and at times an agony aunt! My group of friends will be the first to tell me that the play suit I was going to wear out this Saturday does make me look fat, and that is what friends are for! They dish out the compliments when the guy dumps you for a leggy blonde model and tell you when you don't look good in an outfit.

2. Time

Time is so important and the older you get the less of it you have. When work, life and boyfriends take over the friend time really does get squeezed into a sixth of what you had back at college! I put my hands up to this, I am guilty of not making time to see my friends, but it is so important and healthy for a balanced life. So, go on, book that spa weekend with the girls and pop open that processo!

3. Adventures lead to Memories

Book that Ibiza weekend, get in the car and drive to the furthest tip of Scotland or jump off a rock into the sea in Cornwall! Adventures surrounded by your best friends create the most amazing memories and are what we all talk about years on. Friends are a great excuse to get out and see the world and the support of a friend means that you have the confidence to conquer anything as long as your together!

4. Friendships come in all Shapes and Sizes

Friendship is a connection that can happen between man, woman, place and beast and doesn't come in one consistent form! Best friends can be from the tiny tots you got on the school bus with to a bunch of cats your living with at 86! I can totally appreciate friendships that are in animal form having formed a solid bond with my little sausage dog Winnie!

5. It's Not A Closed Circle

You will always have the friends that you have known since you were a teeny tot but the chance to aquire friends throughout your life time is limitless. As you grow with age natually your circle changes but this is a chance to expand your circles and craete friendships with new, funa nd exciting people.

Summer Pink Picnic

Tuesday, 26 July 2016

A heatwave has hit the UK so it's the perfect time to have the girls round and relax in the garden asking up the rays having a good ol' catch up! I decided to host a mini summer picnic between 2pm - 5pm so it was more snacks but I went for a pink theme! I served pink lemonade, pink homer simpson donuts, marshmallows and some strawberries!
We all kicked back in the sun, read a few magazines and chatted till the sun went down!
I have to say this has to be one of my favourite ways to spend time on hot afternoons and balmy evenings! Let me know how you all enjoy spending time in the sun in the comments below!

Hope you enjoyed this short but sweet post

Winnie is ONE!

Monday, 18 July 2016

I cannot believe that teeny puppy is ONE today! I know everyone says it ... but really where does the time go! She has come so far and learnt so much in her first teeny year and she really is the bestest dog in the world. To mark her first birthday we threw her breakfast in bed as she loves nothing more than food and being curled up on our bed so we combined the two together along with a few pressies as well!

Happy Birthday Winnie! Heres to many more!

*Tips for Passing Your Driving Test

There are no two ways about it, learning to drive is the most exciting and daunting experience all wrapped into one. It gives you the 'adult' independence that you crave through your teen years literally overnight.
I was lucky enough to pass first time and I will never forget the look of pride and horror across my mums face as I told her (I really think she thought I would fail, as in her eyes I was her baby and the road could be a dangerous place). For me, passing my test first time was one of my greatest achievements, if not the greatest. I was never that student that would get straight A or A* so to do something first time and do it well gave me the biggest sense of achievement. So, for all you green license holders I have put together a few hints and tips for getting on the road and getting that licence first time round!

1. Get the Hours In
Practice makes perfect! And this saying certainly works when it comes to driving! When I was learning to drive my dad bought me 30 hours' worth of lessons, which meant that I got a lot of one on one drive time, where I would practise manoeuvres, learn the highway code and experience a wealth of weather conditions.
If 30 hours is out of your budget, you can always book a course where you can have 12-18 hours over 2-3 days and prior to the course get a family member to take you out (please make sure that you have the necessary insurance) and practise with them. I found really big empty car parks a great places to start!
To book your short course or hourly lessons then take a look at . They have a great range of options to build a package for any budget or experience.

2. Rhythm and Rhyme
OK, so I am fully aware that this may sound completely ridiculous and, well all a bit primary school. But making up rhythms and rhymes to remember certain aspects of driving worked so well for me, the main one being ..."Mirror,Signal,Manoeuvre!" I made a little rhyme up of these three words and for the whole of the test all that was going around my head was this rhyme.

3. Plan A Route
Planning is key when practising with family! To know your way a little means that you know in advance what turns and roundabouts are ahead. When I started learning, I really hated right hand turns because I was really under confident, so my dad made routes which only consisted of left hand turns. This not only meant I practised my driving but built up confidence on the roads!

4. The Pre Test Hour - Getting into Gear
An hour before your test you have time to practice everything you have learnt in the run up to the big day! It is paramount that you stay calm and collected so that you can really focus on tweaking any last minute anxieties. I had a nightmare everything in the hour going completely wrong and I convinced myself I could not do it. However, I ended up passing first time and I think the hour before got all my mistakes out of my system so the real deal seemed very easy in comparison!

5. Parking up at The Test Centre
Do not swing in across two parking bays just because they're empty, taking in the biggest sign thinking whole test is over! This is still part of the test and I had so many friends fail because they parked badly, forgot all about mirrors as they pulled up at the test centre to hear their results. Remember the test lasts until you switch off that ignition!

Please make sure you have all the necessary insurances when driving as well as hold either a full license or provisional when learning to drive.

My Begutea Journey

Friday, 1 July 2016

I was recently contacted by Begutea, a hot new teatox company using only the best ingredients, to embark on my first every teatox journey! I was a little skeptical about 'teatoxing' ... really how can a cup of your favourite char relive food cravings, speed up your metabolism and improve your fitness and wellbeing? Well I was wrong all the above was achieved by simply adding in a couple of cups of the most delicious blends throughout the day.

I am a terrible snacker, I can easily much through a packet of biscuit, couple of chocolate bars and a family share bag of crisps before it's even tea time! So when I came across the Crave Begutea and Appetite blends my snacking stopped completely. Whenever I felt the urge to grab one of these snacks in the day I would quickly make a cup of Begutea and the cravings would completely disappear! Since starting my Begutea journey I have already re-purchased both the Crave and Appetite blends.

My favourite blend has to be the Morning Buzz which is an infusion of Lemon,Ginger and Green Tea giving your metabolism a boost as soon as you wake up. I always start my day with a green tea but the Begu range is the best I have ever tasted. It's fruity notes awaken and hydrate the body as soon as you awake and the green tea is the perfect kick to any morning.

Another great feature with Begu is that alongside the teas you are able to accesses fitness plans via their portal for 28 days from receiving the teas. This creates the perfect combination to achieve weigh loss, build muscle and get that summer body!

Take a look at the range here:

Love-ly Cupcakes

Tuesday, 28 June 2016

I am all about the 80/20 lifestyle, meaning 80% of the time I eat healthily and the other 20% of the time I allow myself to indulge. I love to bake so this is really where I use a lot of my 20% up! I do tend to only have one cupcake and give the rest to friends and family but I just love the process of baking, it's so creative! I am definitely no Mary Berry and I can't produce Pinterest worthy creations but what I do do is honest, warm homely bakes that I believe taste delicious.

Love-ly Cupcakes

Makes 12-15 cakes

You Will Need:

Heart shaped sticks ( mine are from TIGER but you can create your own with some cocktail sticks and card)

6oz Unsalted Butter

6oz of Caster Sugar

3 Medium Eggs

6oz Self Raising Flour

A jar of multicoloured sprinkle

1 packet of mini marshmallows

For the Icing

4oz Butter

6oz Icing Sugar

Food colouring of your choice

1. Preheat the oven to 150C, I have a fan assisted oven. Whilst that's heating up put the cupcake cases in a tray.

2. Cream the 6oz of butter with the caster sugar until a light creamy colour.

3. Crack in the eggs and sive the flour slowly in whilst whisking.

4. Add in the sprinkle for an extra sparkle of surprise in the mixture, mix well so they are evenly distributed.

5. Evenly spoon into the cases and place them in the oven for 15 mins / until they are golden brown.

6. Whilst they cook cream the 4oz of butter and the icing sugar in a bowl adding a small amount of food colouring as you go to build up the cover.

7. Leave the cupcakes to cool before adding the icing and the decorations! Be creative!

Please let me know if you made any cupcakes like mine or followed the recipe above! I love reading baking posts, so if you have any of your own please link in the comments so I can take a look!

DITL Weekend Post

Sunday, 26 June 2016

Welcome to the weekend! I love long lazy mornings in bed, spending my day relaxing in the sunshine avec the pooch (of course). And this weekend was no exception!
We had a lazy lie in followed by some mini pain au chocolats. I am such a sucker for a gimmic and a 'mini' anything, why are 'minnis' so appealing?
I threw up my hair cracked out a summer dress (and a coat, this is Great Britain) and headed to a beautiful park called Eaton Park in Norwich! It's huge so it feels like you have the place to yourself although actually it's full of walkers, picnicers and poochies!
I then worked out for an hour and sat down to steak and salad in front of a movie from Now TV!

I hope you enjoyed my short but sweet posts and some photos

My Ideal Unwind

Wednesday, 22 June 2016

Nothing beats jumping into bed as soon as your in from work and sticking on Netflix (especially now that Orange is the New Black Season Four is out). So I thought I'd share with you how I like to unwind and indulge after a long day and maybe it will give you some ideas on how to feel total zen in the comfort of your own home!

1. Change Those Sheets
Nothing and I mean nothing beats the feeling of jumping into freshly washed, crisply ironed bedding. You can create that hotel bed feel with maximum comfort as hey no bed is as comfortable as your own. I personally love to buy a really good thread count set and I always iron them too, I tend to find Marks and Spencer or The White Company the best for bed linen. Trust me ladies it's worth spending a few extra pennies here as we snooze for at least eight hours a day!

2. Switch On to Switch Off
Yes, turn on that trash TV show you've been wanting to catch up on and sit through seasons 1-8 . Why not! I love getting lost in great (and the not so great) tv shows to completely relax. There is something comforting about sticking on a movie in bed and wrapping the quilt around you. You just can't beat it.

3.Go for the Photos
I like to slick through fashion magazines whilst I'm chilling and always chose one with a lot of good photography, not only for a bit of blog inspiration but because I find it easy to switch between a little TV and a fashion mag. I also love gaining inspiration for my outfits from them as well as noting down on my phone a lust list for the month!

4. Snacks
Lastly, indulge! Yes life is about a healthy balance so kick back and grab your favourite snacks. My guilty pleasure is Angel cake with a large glass of milk! It reminds me of my childhood and gets me all nostalgic! I do eat healthily 80% of the time and allow myself to live a little the other 20%.

Please let me know in the comments how you love to unwind?

Naked 3 Everyday Eyeshadow

Urban Decay's NAKED palettes are all my favourites but if there's one I reach out more for than the others it has to be the NAKED 3 palette. I think that this is because when I lived in New York for a month I visited MAC and the lady at the counter told me that pinky to red wine tones would make my eyes 'pop' !

Here is my very simple everyday shadow routine using the Naked 3 palette, which creates an effortless feel but gives you a very finished look.

1. I take Limit and buff this all over my eyelid including up and over by banana bone at the top of the lid. I use the brush that comes with the palette and for this step I use the larger eye which is great for buffing.

2. Next I use the smaller end of the brush and take the shade Noona, this is slightly deeper than Limit and I pop this in the top outer corners to define the lid and add shadowing to the look.

3. I then take the larger end and buff the shades into the lid so that there are no obvious lines. This creates a seamless look.

4. Finally I take the shade Liar with the smaller end of the brush and dab this at the front of my eyelids to create a shimmery focal point. And da-dah a gorgeous easy everyday eyeshadow fir for any occasion !
