I always find my birthday morning a mess. Presents, paper and wrappers over take the whole place and today wasn't an exception.
I have had some gorgeous gifts from my boyfriend Tom & my friends.
I am celebrating my my family this weekend so I will have birthday take too.
As you can see from my photos it was a pretty pink affair.

Inspiring Colour from Decorex 2014

I took some time out from working to gather some inspiring colour pallets for my final year of uni ( starting next week . . . eek).
I fell in love with these contrasts. Despite being brightly saturated the colours work together to form fantastic design elements.
I love these Vanderhurd sample the union of embroidery and print works so well together and this is certainly something I will be experimenting with in third year.

Decorex Exhibitors Party at Syon House

Decorex International is a huge trade show for the interiors market. With every brand exhibiting under it's roof it's an Aladdin's cave of creativeness and I was lucky enough to be working here over the past week.
On the first day their is an exhibitors party held at the venue and this year it was at Syon House in Richmond London. Which was the most beautiful setting for the event.
Unfortunately I couldn't take pictures inside. I was too busy eating canapés and networking at the event and completely forgot about my camera ( oops).
But here are a few snaps to share the beautiful surroundings of the show.

Byron does Proper Hamburgers

What's better than a juicy burger with a bottle of bubble? Nothing.
And Byron Burger certainly did not disappoint.
The menu is great with an extensive list of build your own options so that everyone can find their guilty treat.
The patti's are really juicy and cooked to perfection ( still pink in the middle) however this can be altered to your preference.
If you still have room after you can try to fit in a knickerbocker glory as well.

Byron have several locations, I visited the Chiswick Byron in London.

Top Three Autumn Beauty Best Bits

Laura Mercier Fresh Fig
Hand Creme
With the weather getting cooler and windier in Britain my moisturiser routine is upped even more especially to the skin that is most exposed to the elements.
I love pretty much all products by Laura Mercier they are always of impeccable quality and last and last and last!
This hand creme is a great size for your handbag and smells so fresh and fruity. It lasts for hours without re applying and I find it even keeps my cracked skin between my fingers hydrated all day.
It's a must for my autumn handbag.

Soothing Balm
I am now on to my second pot of this amazing product it calms skin and can be used on skin as sensitive as the face.
Another amazing hydrating product! Containing exotic plant extracts, such as Avocado, Geranium and Rosemary Oils.
Heat gent ally in finger tips before applying , it smells amazing and you can use it on pretty much anything!

Watt's Up!
The BEST highlighter I have ever owned! With nude undertones this highlighter looks great with a tan and as an avid user of fake tan this is the best highlighter for me.
It has a gorgeous creamy constancy and a buffing brush end to apply however I find that using my fingers to massage the product into my face works better.
I use this everyday and I love to brush a stroke of blusher over the top for extra definition or I leave it own for a more natural look.
I am a huge benefit fan and I can guarantee you will start to see a lot more of their products on my blog.

Bobbin Brownie Bake

Monday, 15 September 2014

With the Great British Bake Off gracing our screens I have caught the baking bug . This is a recipe I usually use when we have no treats for pack lunches left in the house. It's quick and easy and pretty much fool proof.
This recipe is definetly not for the faint hearted , it may be loaded with calories but it is worth every bite. A good treat for a cheat.

Bobbin Brownie Bake

Serves 4 - 8 depending on how greedy your feeling.

185g of the best dark chocolate you can get your hands on
85g plain flour
40g coco powder
185g unsalted butter
120g of milk chocolate chunks ( you can break a bar up if you can't find a pot of chunks)
3 eggs
200g golden caster sugar

I like simple and I am a little slap dash but I think quick cooking has the best results and in this day and age nobody has time to spend hours baking brownies. So heres my quick fire to the point method.

Heat your oven to 165C ( fan oven ) whilst separately greasing a 25cm x 30cm ( rough measurements ... anything close will do ) baking tin.

1. Melt the dark chocolate and butter over a bowl of hot water until there are no lumps. Stirring intermitterly.

2. In a separate bowl whisk the eggs and sugar.

3. Sift the flour and coco powder into the eggs and sugar and fold into the mixture until combined.

4.Add the melted chocolate and butter combo into the mix and fold all together.

5. Lastly throw in the chunks and mix so they are evenly placed throughout the mixture.

6.Pour into your pre greased baking tin roughly 25cm x 30cm . However , you can judge this as the mixture should reach half way up the sides of your baking tray.

7. Bake in the oven for 20-30 mins checking regularly so they are not burnt. Check through the oven window apposed to opening the door as this can affect the bake.

8. Once baked you should be able to put a knife through the middle and it come out clean. The top should be crackerly whilst the middle moist and spongey.

9. Leave to cool before removing and cutting into squares of your choice of size.

* Make sure you have a friend or relative on hand to help with licking the bowl and washing up at the end.

Bake Responsibly
Please be careful when using sharp knives and hot ovens as these can cause accidents.
I take no responsibility for food poisoning caused if this recipe is not followed properly.

A Mid Week Weekend to North Norfolk

It might not be my birthday for another 10 days but Tom and I decided to celebrate our birthdays early ( his is the 19th ). As we are both super busy on our actual B days.
So we went to Byfords in Holt which is in North Norfolk so it wasn’t a huge drive. Byfords is a gorgeous bakery/cafe/posh B&B which serves the most amazing cakes among other delicious treats. You may have seen their ‘Sponge’ brand of cakes about as they are pretty popular now!
We booked into stay the night with dinner and breakfast included so we starved ourselves before hand so we could mega indulge.
You are greeted with complimentary afternoon tea where we both had scone with clotted cream before wondering around the town dipping in and out of the shops.
We then got washed and dressed and had an amazing dinner which was tapas type starters followed by homemade pizza. We were far to full for desert however before you go to bed they provided moon shaped shortbreads ( we may have managed to fit a couple of those in ).
The next morning we were greeted with freshly squeezed orange juice , pastries , more scones and an array of fruit and yoghurts as well as a lovely hot breakfast menu.
I went for the Eggs Benedict ( minus the sauce …not a fan) which was so lovely and Tom had the full English and pastries!!
We then took a short drive to the coast as it was such a beautiful morning and went for a walk around a little seaside town called Blakeney which was a gorgeous end to our mid week weekend break.

Excuse the photo quality I realised I had forgot my blogging camera when we arrived :(

Birthday Wish List

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt Home Candle
I recently went into the Jo Malone store in Norwich and have fell in love with their new Wood Sage & Sea Salt range. It's really fresh for autumn which is abit unusual for this time of year as I usually gravitate to warmer spicier scents.

Classis Ray Bans
Okay so I have been through two pairs of Ray Bans this year. Both had being the aviator style. However I really want another pair for their winter and the morning can be quite bright and I think these ones looked and is all sturdy.
I love the tortuous print on the frame I think this is a real classic look and easy to wear lots of different outfits.

Zara Winter Coat
So, despite buying a new leather jacket and a new long coat from Topshop I still feel the need for yet another one.
I buy one of these ZARA coats every year. They are so warm and cosy and see me right through the winter. I love the navy and black fur combo I think the fur lining gives it a real feline look ( which my  tan coloured one last year didn't have ).
They are a really flattering fit despite being a puffy coat they still siluette your figure and the gold zip detail is a gorgeous contrast against the navy.

Mules from Whistles
I know that mules have been on trend for a while . I have a tan pair from ASOS which are so comfy but I feel I need a black pair to wear when I can't wear the tan ones as they are a great staple boot for Autumn/ Winter.
I love Whistles and pretty much anything they produce is cut beautifully and has a simple sophisticated elegance about it which I love.
They are slightly more expensive than the high street but are really worth the price as the clothes I have from there wash and hold there shape perfectly wash after wash.
If you can't afford to splash out on a pair of these there is a very close steal from Primark at the moment. However I am holding out till my birthday to see if I get these ones!

Betsy Shock Colour Electric Blue
Holy Cow they have done it again! Pauls Boutique have got me lusting after yet another of there amazing bags.
This is a great bag to add an injection of colour to any outfit especially the dull winter blacks and greys you find living in throughout the winter months.
I LOVE the shape as well which is a great size and lined with gorgeous polka for fabric.
