Blogmas : Seals at Horsey, Norfolk

Sunday, 14 December 2014

Today we had a really relaxed Sunday and went for a frosty walk in north norfolk to see the seals. The beach at Horsey was covered with over 700 seal pups , it was an amazing sight to see. They come here every year to have their babies and it is well worth the long cold walk to see them .

Blogmas: Writing cards and Christmas Tree is Up

Monday, 8 December 2014

So I have been really busy! Balancing two jobs, university and finding time to write a blog post each day is proving a little difficult so I apologise for combining two days into one. However, now that university has finished for Christmas I promise there will be lots more posts in the build up to Christmas!

So on Sunday we collected our tree and put it up in our living room we played festive songs whilst hanging all the decorations I had bought up. All the decorations on the tree are from Wilko and I am so pleased with the quality and feel they work so well together. So, if you are interested in creating the same look pop into your local Wilko to collect these gorgeous bits (UK only).

I went for a red, silver and white theme which works really well as it's not too cold and not too much. I am really pleased with how the colours have worked together.

As I was in a Christmas-y mood I sat down and wrote out all my cards to my friends and family. I love to write individual messages in each card so this does take a while but I love doing them !!

Has anyone else put up there trees? Please tweet me a picture at @hollybobbinblog so I can see all your lovely trees!

Blogmas : A Small Taste of Christmas

Saturday, 6 December 2014

Jacket : River Island
Jumper : New Look
Bag : H&M
Jeans : Topshop
Boots: New Look
Gloves : Primark

My town in Norfolk held a small scale Christmas fair . I didn;t take many photos as I felt really intrusive on people stalls so here are a couple to give you a feel of what it was like.
Also, I love days like this where the sun is really strong but it's super cold, the perfect excuse to dress up to stay warm and cosy.

Blogmas : A Bobbin Bake For Christmas

Bobbin bakes The Classic Mince Pie

150g caster sugar
350g Plain Flour
1 Pinch of Salt
1 Small Egg (to glaze over the pies)
300g of good quality Mincemeat
Icing sugar to dust

Heat your oven to 200C / 180C Fan Oven.

1. In a mixing bowl combine the diced butter and flour and rub together with your fingers.

2. Add in the sugar and salt and continue to combine into a ball to be rolled out and cut into circles to make the base of the pies.

3. Add a teaspoon of mincemeat into each pie before cutting out another circle to be the top of the pie.

4. Brush the small egg over the top of each pie before placing in the oven for 20 mins.

5. Allow to cool and dust with icing sugar before grabbing a tea and eating one or too !

Blogmas: My Favourite Winter Pamper Products

Thursday, 4 December 2014

Laura Mercier Creme Brulee Bath Salts
These make the water really creamy and are very moisturising for your skin to soak up. They dissolve really quickly so there is no problems with sitting in a bath of grit. They smell amazing so be careful not to eat them !

Neal's Yard Frankincence and Mandarin Shower Cream
Using a shower cream through the winter adds extra moisture to your skin to make sure that it doesn't dry out. This product just smells of Christmas it's rich undertones and spicy mandarin flavours are perfect for the festive season. With all the ingredients from organic sources it is great for your skin too!

Neal's Yard Peppermint and Meadowsweet Tea
I drink this every night, it has to be one of my favourite teas. It really settles my digestive system and has really relaxing properties. Each bag individually wrapped making each cup feel really special.

Superdrug Anti-Ageing Moisture Mask
A soothing mask with anti-ageing properties makes for a really relaxing bath. Soothing skin which is battered by the winter elements with an added anti-ageing quality means that you are left with baby soft skin. I literally can't stop stroking my face after using this mask.

So, I didn't do a post yesterday ! Nothing exciting happened and when I got home from work I was too tired to take photos and compose a post that was interesting at all. So I am sorry for being an awful blogger (not the best start to blogmas).
However, today I am sharing with you how I unwind and the products I love to use in the cold winter months. I choose really moisturising products and always run a bath to relax my muscles and warm myself up. I love to catch up with my favourite youtubers whilst relaxing and unwinding in the evening.

Blogmas : The Decorations are here but Where is the Tree?

Tuesday, 2 December 2014

If you follow me on instagram (holliemontagnon) you will know I have been slowly putting up my Christmas decorations since the middle of November . I have been buying budget decorations and putting them together in a homemade style.
We still have no tree but we are hoping to pick one up this weekend and of course I will be showing it all on here (so keep your eyes peeled).

Living in a 300 year old cottage I didn't want my decorations to be really modern and although I love metallics and steel silvers I didn't think a completely cold theme would work with the nature of the house. So I added red in with the white and silver which really warmed by colour pallet up as well as natural ornaments such as ferns and pine cones to be inkeeping with the style of my home.

I hope you like my decorations so far ! Most of them are from Wilkinson and The Range so if you would like to share your decorating tips or ask where any of the individual decorations are from then please comment below !
